International Development Trends of Comparative Education Research: Based on an Analysis of the Articles Published in Two Academic Journals over Thirty Years
The American Comparative Education Review and the British Comparative Education are academic journals of comparative education research that have a long history of publication and are internationally well-known. Bibliometric, content analysis and comparative analysis of 1,339 articles contained in these two journals over thirty years from 1992 to 2021 reveal four major trends of comparative education research across the world: towards cooperation, towards pluralism, towards understanding, and towards hybridity. This also answers several long-standing questions in comparative education research: on research methodology, qualitative method and quantitative method develop integratedly; on comparative unit and comparative dimension, character and depth go hand in hand; on the subject of research, macro and micro move forward synchronously; and on the main body of research, interdisciplinarity, pluralism and cooperation advance simultaneously.
