A Brief History of the Development of Comparative Education in Italy: History, Protagonists, and Discipline Construction
The development of comparative education in Italy can be divided into three stages: before the 20th century, comparative education started with "educational travel", the golden period of comparative pedagogy in the 1960s to 1990s, and the period of returning to the center of international comparative education since the 21st century and reviving comparative education. In this process, a number of representative figures emerged, and according to their characteristics, they can be divided into the founder of comparative education, international promoter and traditional reflecter and defender. The basic construction of comparative education is relatively sound in Italy, which mainly includes four parts: society, periodical, publishing institution and university. On the whole, Italian comparative education embodies three characteristics: continuing the tradition of "educational travel", attaching importance to the translation of foreign comparative education works, and actively strengthening the contact and cooperation with the European Comparative Education Association. In the future, comparative education in Italy should be further strengthened in three aspects: the degree of attention in universities, the construction of periodicals and the language exchange.
