Characteristics of High-level Universities in the Belt and Road Co-constrution Countries and China's Higher Education Openness Strategy
For the Belt and Road,China needs to open up its higher education sector at a higher level in the future,and to realize a more comprehensive and deeper mutual understanding with other countries. Based on the QS University Ranking 2024 and the World Bank data,it is found that there are 1,500 high-level universities selected from the QS Master List,of which 572 belong to the Belt and Road co-constrution countries,accounting for more than 1/3 of the total list,and some of them belong to the Belt and Road co-constrution countries. Some of them are among the world's top universities and their superior disciplines. The national characteristics of the higher education layout of the Belt and Road co-constrution countries can be categorized into "high level-large scale","high level-small scale","low level-small scale" and "low level-large scale". According to the different characteristics of higher education development in the Belt and Road co-constrution countries,China should adopt different strategies for opening up higher education.
