Higher Education Cooperation between China and Central Asia under the Belt and Road Initiative:Achievements,Challenges, and Prospects
Since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed, driven by the demand for mutual political trust, mutual economic benefit and mutual cultural understanding,China's higher education cooperation with Central Asian has been gradually strengthened and fruitful results have been achieved.Yet the road of cooperation is not straight.Due to the complex and volatile situation in Central Asia, the limited competitiveness of China's education brand, the risk of cross-border cooperation between universities, and the single model of talent cultivation, higher education cooperation with Central Asia have been hindered to a certain extent.Along with the upgrading of China's cooperation with Central Asia and the urgent need to build China-Central Asia community with a shared future,to promote regional higher education cooperation and exchanges in a wider range of areas has become common vision and demand of the two sides.China needs to explore the deepening path for the high-quality development of higher education cooperation and exchanges with Central Asia from the perspective of top-level design, branding, participation of universities, talent cultivation, and other dimensions.
