An Interdisciplinary Accelerated University:Strategic Analysis of Singapore University of Technology and Design
Singapore University of Technology and Design(SUTD)is one of the new research universities that has accelerated its development in the 21st century,and it is also the first university in the world to fully adopt the interdisciplinary organization model.As the product of Singapore entrepreneurial university reform,SUTD has adopted a small and special strategy,and reconstructed the value chain based on the concept of big design,so as to gain competitive advantages over similar universities.SUTD's organizational structure responds to the needs of new technologies and emerging industries.Instead of departments or schools,SUTD has set up four interdisciplinary pillars and two clusters composed of multiple disciplines to implement the T+model integrating general and specialized education.SUTD's interdisciplinary organizational structure has also shaped a new university governance model of co-leadership.
