Historical Evolution,Problems and Reform Initiatives of Teacher Education for German Vocational Schools
The traditional teacher education for German vocational schools relies on universities and follows an integrated design.The candidates are expected to have graduated from high schools.This education mode focuses on academic efforts,and its main purpose is to pursue a higher social status.Since the nineties of the twentieth century,the shortage of teachers in German vocational schools in the field of technical engineering is prominent,and there is also a shortage of qualifications in teacher.Therefore Germany has innovated the standards of teacher education for vocational schools.The teacher development institutions have been expanded and the teachers are jointly cultivated by universities and colleges of applied sciences.With the integrated development mode broken down,the content definition and stage connection have become more flexible.The recruiting channels have been broadened,covering the vocational education system.The reform of teacher education for vocational schools solves the problem of constrained quantity,highlights the vocational characteristics as well,and strives to achieve a better balance between the academic and vocation.
