An Empirical Analysis of the Competencies of Chinese Interns In International Organizations
Based on United Nations Competencies for the Future,mixed methods are employed to explore Chinese interns'competencies in international organization.Here are the findings:Chinese interns in international organizations possess predominate ability of continuous learning,and could practice integrity effectively.They perform well in professionalism,teamwork,technological awareness,and accountability.Chinese interns have medium competencies of building trust,respecting of diversity,planning and organizing,client orientation and vision.However,they show a shortage of decision making,creativity,communication,and leadership.Significant competence differences can be found among Chinese interns with or without study abroad experiences,proficient in a second language or not and numbers of international organization which ever interned.Based on these finding,it is proposed that it is imperative to strengthen the selection and training of international organizations'Chinese interns,improve their comprehensive international organizations'competencies based on the advantageous competencies,and build up the internship and work rotating mechanism.
