Objective To investigate the prevalence of dental caries in 3-year-old children in Shijiazhuang area and its relationship with family feeding habits.Methods A total of 1680 3-year-old children were selected and questionnaires were distributed to the children's guardians.The data were statistically analyzed.Results A total of 1104 children had caries,with a caries prevalence rate of 66.67%.There were significant differences between children with and without dental caries in whether they slept with nipples or bottles after their teeth had grown,whether their teeth were cleaned promptly after feeding or eating,and whether their children now frequently snack(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the feeding methods adopted for the child and whether the mother shared tableware with the child(P>0.05).Multi-factor analysis results showed that children falling asleep with nipples or bottles after teething,and children now often eating snacks were the risk factors for 3-year-old children with caries.Timely cleaning of the tooth surfaces after breastfeeding or eating was a protective factor for caries in 3-year-old children.Conclusions The 3-year-old children in Shijiazhuang have a high rate of caries.Children falling asleep with nipples or bottles after teething,and children now often eating snacks are susceptible population for caries.
