The Story of Sim Cheong is one of Korea's three great classical masterpieces,a classic work of filial piety culture,and holds an essential position in the history of Korean literature. Filial piety is deeply ingrained in Korean people's hearts,and the touching story of filial daughter Sim Cheong sacrificing her life to save her blind father is well-known in Korea. This article interprets the filial piety culture in The Story of Sim Cheong from the perspectives of Confucianism,Buddhism,and Taoism. It compares the evolution of filial piety images in China and Korea,examining the relationship between The Story of Sim Cheong and Chinese literature. It suggests that the filial piety culture in The Story of Sim Cheong,with local characteristics,is more influenced by Chinese filial piety culture. Both China and South Korea belong to the cultural circle of Chinese characters,and filial piety reflects the two peoples' common moral and cultural concepts. Filial piety culture promotes human spiritual civilization,which has practical significance for the exchange of literature and culture between China and Korea,as well as the inheritance and development of excellent filial piety culture in contemporary society.
