The powerful diagnostic capability of diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) for hepatic focal lesions is mainly attributable to the development of its imaging methods. At present,DWI still has defects in the evaluation of diffuse hepatic lesions,so it is instrumental to further explore and optimize its imaging method. To this end, this article reviews the quantitative imaging, image quality improvement and accelerated imaging methods involved in liver DWI in recent years.Firstly, the main challenge facing liver DWI is described.Secondly, the research status and potential solutions of quantitative imaging model, fat suppression technique, parallel imaging, compressed sensing technique and simultaneous multislice imaging methods for liver DWI are reviewed, providing feasible ideas for further optimization of existing imaging methods and introduction of new methods. Finally, the liver DWI method is summarized and prospected.
