Whole-process management of high-value consumables based on information platform
Objective To explore new management mode of high-value consumables,and to solve the problems of unplanned demand,non-standard acceptance,unregulated processes,and insufficient data recording in the management mode of high-value consumables.Methods Based on the material management system as the basic information platform,we established the whole-process management mode of high-value consumables based on the information platform.Then we compared the expiration rate of consumables,emergency procurement plan rate,record-consumables conformity,traceability rate of consumables,and department satisfaction of 144 departments in the secondary warehouse of the General Hospital of Eastern Theater Command before and after implementing the new management mode.Results The whole-process management mode of high-value consumables based on information platform realized the whole process data tracking of high-value consumables,and completed the whole process supervision of high-value consumables,including department demand,procurement,delivery,acceptance and storage,secondary library management,employment,and settlement.With a one-year employment,the expiry rate of consumables dropped from 0.85％ to 0,the emergency procurement plan dove from 45.78％ to 1.24％,and the record-consumables conformity ascended from 78.71％ to 98.46％.Previously,only 5 departments had detailed traceable data of high-value consumables,accounting for a mere 3.4％ of the hospital departments.The traceability rate reached 100％ in the new approach.Before the implementation of this method,the department' s satisfaction rate with the management of high-value consumables was 57.81％.At the beginning of the implementation,the satisfaction rate decreased to 24.22％ which rebounding to 89.76％ one year later.Conclusions After applying the whole-process management mode based on the information platform,the problems including the misuse of non-tendered consumables,consumables shortages and expiry,record-consumables nonconformity,and non-traceability the relevant data have been significantly improved.
