In recent years,a series of policies have been issued at the national level,which clarify the mission of academic journals to lead academics,and at the same time point out the path of high-quality development of academic journals,but there are still a large number of general sci-tech journals(referred to as general periodicals)positioned themselves as bystanders.Under the background of the construction of the first-class periodicals,general periodicals,although facing some practical difficulties,should look for a way out to lead academics.General periodicals can play a leading role in several aspects,such as characteristic and advantageous disciplines,emerging interdisciplinary areas,guidelines,consensus,recommendations and their interpretation,and differentiated leadship,through the following suggested strategies,including enhancing the editors'ability to lead academics,playing the role of academic community,attaching importance to the cooperation between science and enterprises,and emphasizing construction of communication ability,etc.
