Application of the Four-Quadrant Proofreading Checklist in the editing and proofreading stages of medical manuscripts
Medical manuscripts present significant challenges in editing and proofreading due to the discipline's unique characteristics and the broad scope of its content.Traditional editing workflows encounter issues such as inefficiency, inadequate focus on key aspects, repetitive tasks, limited collaboration with authors, and difficulty in identifying logical errors. This study employs the time management quadrant method to design and optimize a Four-Quadrant Proofreading Checklist specifically tailored to address these challenges in the editing and proofreading processes. The checklist effectively integrates the roles of editors and authors and the links between editing and proofreading.By detailing and highlighting key proofreading points for different types of manuscript content,it enhances both editing efficiency and quality.Through examples at the article and section levels, this study demonstrates how the Four-Quadrant Proofreading Checklist can streamline the editing process and facilitate the accumulation of editorial resources. This structured tool offers a practical solution for medical manuscript editing, with plans for continuous optimization to meet the evolving needs of medical research.
