Boundaries, transparency, and ethical of AIGC in academic research and publishing
In the era of generative artificial intelligence(GenAI),the technology of artificial intelligence generated content(AIGC)has brought about a ransformative change in academic research, paper writing, and scholarly publishing, becoming a"New Quality Productivity"driving technological progress and societal development. This paper analyzed the three major application scenarios of AIGC Large Language Models(research, publishing, dissemination),verifies the effectiveness of AI-assisted peer review and discusses the importance of AI-optimized paper titles, keywords, and journal cover designs;explores the characteristics of AIGC Large Language Models being susceptible to guidance and suggestion, along with the potential risks of discrimination, bias, information leakage, and data breaches.Based on the"Guideline on the Boundaries of AIGC Usage in Academic Publishing"and the"Code of Conduct for Responsible Research Practices(2023)",the boundaries and norms for the use of AIGC in academic publishing are summarized. The results indicate that AIGC can be used cautiously under specific conditions, with transparent disclosure and ethical statements. The academic community should continuously update the guidelines for usage boundaries, strengthen the regulation of ethical usage of AIGC,and provide more robust references for defining academic integrity and preventing academic misconduct.
