A Political-Economic Analysis of"Commonality"Production in the Era of Digital Capitalism——Taking Hart and Negri as examples
Antonio Negri's passing is a significant loss to the contemporary Western leftist movement. He and Michael Hardt's lingering ideas on reshaping"commonality"for the revival of contemporary communism continue to resonate in the Western world. They address the impact of contemporary digital capitalist labor mode transformations on the world communist movement as a research problem, focus on"commonality"production as a core concept, and construct a new theoretical and ideological path towards communism. While their atten-tion remains to the levels of consciousness and conceptions, lacking a historical-materialist and political-economic analysis of new changes and situations weakened their stance. Yet, their attention to"commonality"opens up a timely new discourse. Thinking the study of"commonality"in the era of digital capitalism initiated by Hardt and Negri through the lens of Marxist political economy offers a new perspective on the significance of"commonality"for contemporary communist movements from the standpoint of production mode and social system, which is a novel issue worthy of contemporary research.
