Chinese Garden City:Theoretical Construction and Practical Path
Garden city, an ideal model for creating a human habitation environment amidst the trend of ecologi-cal civilization, is endowed with more abundant connotations when combined with China's indigenous culture and urban development situation. Chinese garden city, absorbing foreign experiences in garden city construc-tion, continuing the implication of traditional Chinese view of natural landscape, and expanding theories of mod-ern eco-urbanism, becomes an important carrier for the construction of the modernization of harmonious coexis-tence between humans and nature. It is characterized by systematicness, people-orientedness, humanity, ecolo-gy, resilience. In terms of specific composition, it, supported by urban essentials, environmental essentials, and connectivity essentials, covers three levels (i. e. micro garden elements, mid-scope garden scenes, and macro garden system). In practice, efforts can focus on landscape design to construct open garden spaces, on spatial form to create universal garden systems, on functional setting to build diverse garden scenes, and on governance pattern to share multiple garden dividends.
