In order to explore what factors affect readers in newspaper illustration vision and improve readers'visual perception level the article takes the illustration of the front page of China Daily as an example,perceiving from three dimensions:content layer,form and function.It constructs 24 indexes such as aesthetic artistry,creative interest,style uniqueness,symbol connotation,title content differentiation,tonal content coordination,tonal comfort,brightness comfort,purity comfort,graphic size comfort,graphic modeling comfort,composition margin comfort.Combined with questionnaire survey,the analytic hierarchy process and entropy method were used for statistical analysis.The results are as follows:First,readers'perception and evaluation of China Daily cover illustration are form level perception,function level perception and content level perception from high to low.Secondly,factors such as the comfort level of blank space in composition,the dynamic nature of reading and the intuitiveness of narrative have a great influence on readers'visual perception.Thirdly,it is helpful to improve readers'visual reading experience by optimizing readers'cultural inheritance,font design coordination and theme clarity.
