Research on the Design of Reading APP Based on the Theory of Interactive Ritual Chain
This study uses Randall Collinstheory of the Interactive Ritual Chain to explore a systematic model for the emotional design of reading applications. It derives corresponding design strategies to guide design practice.First, the study introduces the Interactive Ritual Chain theory and the three-tiered theory of emotional design, along with key points of emotional design for reading APPs.Building on this foundation,a structural model comprising three parts—the situational layer, the interactive layer, and the meaningful layer—is constructed. The situational layer reconfigures the time and space of reading and its environment;the interactive layer defines the sharing and resonance of the reading experience;and the meaningful layer expands the depth and breadth of the reading experience. This forms a systematic model that is progressive and relatively closed-loop.The model is then applied to the"Hi(Hāi)Reading"APP design practice, with its feasibility verified through the establishment of design principles, functional planning, and interface design. The emotional reading APP model based on the Interactive Ritual Chain not only reveals the constituent elements of the emotional experience in reading app design but also demonstrates how these elements interact to form a progressive and relatively closed-loop system, promoting user engagement and sustained stickiness, and providing a new perspective and strategy for the design of reading APPs.
