Reflections on the Life Philosophy of Yangming's School of Mind Through Lacan's Mirror Stage Theory
The Mirror Stage Theory is one of the seminal concepts of Jacques Lacan's philosophy. This paper is a comparative study of Eastern and Western philosophies.Applying Lacan's theory of subjectivity, and from the approach of examining the psychological and cognitive characteristics and patterns of the'Pre-Mirror Stage,''Mirror Stage'and'Post-Mirror Stage',it interprets the connotations and the relationships of three pivotal moments in the development of Wang Yangming's School of Mind:'Studying and Contemplation of Bamboo in the Courtyard,''Getting Enlightened at LongChang'and'Awakening to the Conscience',aiming to reveal the construction process of Wang Yangming's philosophy, which is based on the progressively elevated life experiences of'exhaustive thought leading to illness','the sufficiency of one's own nature',and'the brightness of this mind'.The paper attempts to recognize the unique historical structure and life experience background of Yangming's philosophy from a novel perspective.
