Effect of heat treatment on corrosion properties of TC4 alloy
In order to study the corrosion behavior of TC4 alloy in 5 M hydrochloric acid by different heat treatment processes. On the basis of TC4 alloy,WQ-TC4 and AC-TC4 alloys were prepared by quenching and air cooling respectively.By observing the microstructure evolution of three samples, the influence of microstructure on corrosion resistance was discussed. The results show that the element segregation of TC4 and AC-TC4 alloys occurs at the boundary of α and β phases, resulting in the formation of microscopic galvanic cells between the two phases, and the corrosion resistance of the alloys decreases, while the element segregation of WQ-TC4 alloys is not obvious. The smaller element segregation makes WQ-TC4 alloy have the best corrosion resistance,TC4 is second,AC-TC4 is the worst.
