Translator Subjectivity in the English Translation of Ancient Chinese Poetry:A Case Study of Li Shangyin's"Poem without a Title:It's Dif-ficult for Us to Meet and Hard to Part"
This paper explores translator subjectivity in the English translation of ancient Chinese poet-ry,specifically through Li Shangyin's"Poem without a Title:It's Difficult for Us to Meet and Hard to Part",and analyzes the translations of translators such as Innes Herdan,Wan Changsheng,Wang Xian-zhong,and Xu Yuanchong.Positioned within the framework of knowledge translation studies,the paper discusses the manifestation of translator subjectivity which is simultaneously restrained by the norms of knowledge translation.It is an ideal situation that translators can express their personal thoughts while conforming to these norms.However,a tension often exists between individual expression and transla-tion standards.
