Correlation between the expression level of lncRNA MEG8 and the degree of neurological deficit in patients with ischemic stroke
Objective:To study the correlation between the expression of serum long non-coding RNA maternally expressed gene 8(lncRNA MEG8)and the degree of neurological deficit in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods:A total of 135 pa-tients with ischemic stroke admitted in our hospital were selected as ischemic stroke group, and they were divided into mild de-fect group, moderate defect group and severe defect group according to NIHSS score. In addition,128 subjects with normal cra-nial nerve function in our hospital were selected as the control group.Baseline data were collected from each group, the expres-sion level of serum lncRNA MEG8 was detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR(qRT-PCR)method;the correla-tion between the expression level of serum lncRNA MEG8 with baseline data and the degree of neurological deficit in patients with ischemic stroke at different time was analyzed by Spearman and Pearson analyses;Logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of the degree of neurological deficit in patients with ischemic stroke. Results:The expression levels of ser-um lncRNA MEG8 in the ischemic stroke group on the 2nd,7th and 14th day of admission were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The expression level of serum lncRNA MEG8 on the 14th day of admission was lower than that on the 2nd and 7th day of admission(P<0.05).The expression level of serum lncRNA MEG8 in the severe defect group was higher than that in the moderate defect group and mild defect group(P<0.05),and the the expression level of serum lncRNA MEG8 in the moderate defect group was higher than that in the mild defect group(P<0.05).The expression level of serum lncRNA MEG8 in patients with ischemic stroke was positively correlated with the degree of neurological deficit, hypertension, carotid ath-erosclerosis,diabetes,systolic blood pressure,TC,LDL-C,and Hs-CRP(P<0.05),while was negatively correlated with HDL-C(P<0.05).LncRNA MEG8 and carotid atherosclerosis were independent risk factors for patients with ischemic stroke to develop moderate/severe neurological deficit(P<0.05).Conclusion:The expression level of serum lncRNA MEG8 is positively correlated with the degree of neurological deficit in ischemic stroke patients.
