In the context of building a leading ice and snow sports nation, the demand for cultivating reserve talents in speed skating in China is becoming increasingly urgent. The ice and snow resources in Xinjiang region are superior, and the development process of speed skating projects is relatively long.In order to enhance external attention to talent cultivation in border areas, this study aims to investigate the teaching status of speed skating in primary and secondary schools in Xinjiang region. It was found that Beitun city of the tenth division is one of the examples, and speed skating teaching in primary and secondary schools in the city has been characterized by the initial scale of students'participation,self-breeding to satisfy the teachers, orderly after-school training, and the initial effect of talent cultivation, etc. However, there are several difficulties in the overall teaching of speed skating in primary and secondary schools in Xinjiang, such as weak coaches and teaching staff,a decrease in student base due to population outflow, poor channels for transporting reserve talents,an incomplete speed skating curriculum system, and the need to improve venue equipment.Aiming to these problems,it is proposed to strengthen the construction of teachers, enhance cross-domain cooperation and exchange, smooth the channel of talent delivery, focus on scientific selection and training, and encourage capital investment in events and other countermeasures,so as to cultivate more excellent speed skating talents and realize the sustainable development of primary and secondary school speed skating programs in Xinjiang.
