Study on the Characteristics of Decorative Art of Stone Carving in Traditional Dwellings in Southern Hubei
The stone carving of traditional dwellings in southern Hubei has its unique style and artistic characteristics.This paper adopts the research methods of literature review,case analysis and field investigation to explore the decorative art characteristics of stone carving of traditional dwellings in southern Hubei from three aspects,i.e.the stone carving decoration categories,carving techniques and pattern themes.Finally the paper summarizes four main features of the decorative art of stone carvings of traditional dwellings in southern Hubei,namely:elegant and practical forms,combination of various carving techniques,use of traditional auspicious patterns,and application of numerous traditional forms of composition.The study aims to provide reference for the construction of local traditional architectural decoration theory and the development of modern architectural stone carving decoration art.
