Effects of Xanthium sibiricum oil drops on behavioral symptom and serum IL-5 level in mice with allergic rhinitis
Objective To observe the effects of Xanthium sibiricum oil drops on behavioral symptom and serum IL-5 level in mice with allergic rhinitis. Methods Thirty-two SPF grade BALB/c male mice were randomly divided into the normal group, the model group, the control group and the experimental group, with 8 mice in each group.Except for the normal group, the other three groups were sensitized with ovalbumin to establish a mouse model of allergic rhinitis. After the model was successfully es-tablished,the experimental group used Xanthium sibiricum oil drops, the control group used Cetirizine drops, and the other two groups used normal saline nasal drops. The course of treatment was 9 days. After the treatment, the nasal behavioral symptom was scored and serum IL-5 level was detected by using ELISA.Results Compared with that of the model group, the behavioral symptom score of the control group slightly increased(P<0.05),while the behavioral symptom score of the experimental group decreased(P<0.05).The serum IL-5 levels of both the control and experimental groups decreased(P<0.01).Compared with that of the control group, the behavioral symptom score of the experimental group decreased(P<0.05),and serum IL-5 level also decreased(P>0.05).Conclusion Xanthium sibiricum oil drops could improve the nasal behavioral symptom and reduce serum IL-5 level in mice with allergic rhinitis.
