Objective To explore the competency-oriented training mode for public-funded medical students of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM),in order to enrich and develop the talent training of publicly-funded TCM students in China. Methods In view of the position competency requirements of public-funded TCM students,the curriculum system,the practical teaching system,the teaching methods,and the evaluation system were reformed. One class in the experimental group and one class in the control group were selected. After the study,theoretical assessment,skill assessment and questionnaire survey were carried out,and the results of the two groups were statistically compared. Results The experimental group had higher scores in skill and questionnaire than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Through the reform of the training mode,the professional practical ability,and awareness of grassroot service of public-funded TCM students have significantly improved. The competency-oriented training mode of public-funded TCM students is superior to the traditional model.
