Application research of vestibular evoked myogenic potentials on patients with vestibular migraine
Objective To evaluate the functional status of utricle, saccule, superior vestibular pathway and inferior vestibular pathway in patients with vestibular migraine by means of vestibular evoked myogenic potentials, and to explore its clinical value. Methods According to the diagnostic criteria of vestibular migraine(VM),we chose 36 patients of vestibular migraine as the VM group. At the same time,36 healthy subjects were selected as the control group. The prospective control study was used to examine all subjects of two groups in ocular evoked myogenic potential and cervical evoked myogenic potential, and the indexes of vestibular evoked myogenic potentials were compared and analyzed. Results There was no obvious differences in emissions and latencies of cervical evoked myogenic potential between the VM group and the control group, however, the patients of the VM group showed lower amplitudes and higher inter aural asymmetry ratio of cervical evoked myogenic potential. Conclusion There were significant dysfunctions in utricle and the superior vestibular pathway in patients with vestibular migraine, and oVEMP could be an important way for the diagnosis of VM.
