Study on the Adhesion Between Asphalt and Aggregates in the Moist Environment of the South Area
In this paper, the surface energy parameters of asphalt binder and aggregate particles under different relative humidity conditions were determined by contact Angle test and humidity control box,and the adhesion work and spalling work were used as the main indexes to analyze the adhesion between asphalt binder No.70 and SBS modified asphalt and the three aggregates of granite, limestone and basalt. The main conclusions are as follows:asphalt material is not sensitive to the change of relative humidity, and the surface of the three aggregates can decrease rapidly with the increase of humidity.Compared with No.70 matrix asphalt, the adhesive properties of SBS modified asphalt with granite, limestone and basalt aggregate increased by 25.7%,14.5% and 21.3%,respectively.SBS modified asphalt can effectively improve the adhesive properties between asphalt and aggregate. The stripping work between asphalt binder and the three aggregates gradually increases with the increase of relative humidity, among which granite has the fastest growth rate, and for No.70 asphalt and SBS modified asphalt, when the relative humidity reaches 70% and 80%,respectively,the asphalt on the granite surface will appear the risk of autonomous stripping.
