Mix Design and Pavement Performance Evaluation of SMA-13 Steel Slag Asphalt Mixture
In order to explore the application of steel slags in the functional repair of asphalt pavement on highways in the Gobi region of Hexi,a comparative experimental analysis was conducted on the mixing design and pavement performance of SMA-13 asphalt mixture with steel slags. The results showed that with 30% of total amount of steel slags replacing the same specification, and the mixing ratio of granular cellulose fiber was 0.4%,the optimum proportion of the oil and stone was 6.2%.When 30% steel slag aggregate was added, its oil stone ratio increases by 0.2% compared to natural aggregate SMA-13.Content of granular cellulose fiber increased by 0.1%,the leakage and scattering losses of asphalt mixture decreased by 55% and 30.3% respectively, the dynamic stability increased by 18.2%,the residual stability after immersion increased by 2.5%,the freeze-thaw splitting strength ratio increased by 1.4%,the splitting strength of the pavement core sample at 15℃ increased by 9.4%,and the depth of the pavement structure increased by 5.4%.The addition of steel slag comprehensively improved the road performance of functional repair covers.
