Effects of Ambient Temperature on Cold Start and Fuel Consumption of Methanol Hybrid Electric Vehicle
Engine cold start at an ambient temperature of-30℃ to-20℃ and the influence of different ambient temperatures on methanol consumption on real road were investigated based on a methanol hybrid electric vehicle. The results indicate that there is a critical temperature of-28℃,above which the engine cold start can be realized smoothly, otherwise the stability time of the cold start extends with the decrease of the temperature. In the road test, methanol consumption increases with the decrease of temperature from-30℃ to 25℃. When the ambient temperature is above 0℃,there is a minimum average equilibrium methanol consumption about 9L/100km with the standard deviation of the driver's pedal between 9 and 10. Methanol fuel has an obvious economic benefit. The methanol consumption results of the common temperature of 0℃~25℃ and the extreme cold temperature of-30℃ are 0.18~0.27 yuan/km and 0.38~0.57 yuan/km respectively according to the average market price.
