Design and Analysis of Ship Fuel Tank Capacity to Meet 2050 Greenhouse Gas Emissions
In order to meet the requirement for greenhouse gas(GHG)emission reduction from International Maritime Organization(IMO).For the three alternative fuel options of LNG/methanol/ammonia applied to ships, the determination of the ship's bunker capacity was calculated and analysed with the IMO code rules as the limiting conditions and the maximum economy of the ship operator as the target.According to the three principles of setting the bunker capacity, the minimum bunker capacity under the use of different alternative fuel modes was calculated and analyzed. When the third principle was adopted, nearly half of the space required for the fuel tanks could be saved compared with the conventional first principle, which saved the ship's space. This analysis provided a reference for the further application of alternative fuel design on transport vessels.
