Mooring Requirements for VLOC Berthing at Major Brazilian Ports
The mooring requirements and limitations of several Brazilian port ore terminals for berthing large ore carriers are elaborates on.Among them, the mooring requirements of PONTA DA MADEIRA(PDM)port are far higher than those of Ship Towing and Mooring Equipment Guidelines of Maritime Safety Committee(MSC)of the International Maritime Organization(IMO)and Mooring Equipment Guidelines of the Oil Companies International Marine Forum(OCIMF).Takan the mooring design of a 325 000 ton ore ship as an example, the rationality of PDM port mooring requirements was verified by calculating and analyzing the minimum breaking load of mooring lines.
