Analysis and Thoughts on the Phenomenon of Changing the Publication Language of Chinese Sci-Tech Journals to Chinese-English in China
The phenomenon of changing the publication language of Chinese sci-tech journals from Chinese to Chinese-English is analyzed to provide reference for the development of sci-tech journals and assist in the high-quality development of sci-tech journals in China.The article surveys and analyzes the situations of 28 Chinese sci-tech journals which changed their publication language during 2017 to 2023 and the reasons for the changes.It finds that most journals face issues such as the insufficient internationalization of official websites,the lack of international editorial board teams,the low proportion of English papers published,and the concentration of author groups in China.The main reasons for changing the publication language of these journals include avoiding the intense competition among Chinese sci-tech journals,attracting more high-quality submissions,enhancing the journals'impact,and increasing the possibility of being included in the international databases.To address the issues of the aforementioned 28 journals,in combination with the goal of building world-class sci-tech journals in China,the following suggestions are proposed:optimizing the layout of journal publication language;optimizing the academic evaluation system;improving the internationalization level of sci-tech journals;enhancing the standardization of journal publication types.
