Exploring the multicultural identity of a literati requires an in-depth examination of the dialectical rela-tionship between innate factors and acquired factors.Innate factors,specifically manifested as genetic qualities,play a decisive role in the biological base and potential abilities possessed by Xu Ling-xiao.Acquired factors,re-presented by environmental factors,educational background and subjective initiative,influence Xu Ling-xiao's cul-tural literacy,values,ideology and morality,as well as professionalism through their interactions with the innate factors.The group of literati with multiple cultural identities embodies the characteristics of the era of the late Qing period in which the political,newspaper and art worlds interact closely and blend in depth,reflecting the rich,di-verse and complex social landscape of this period of historical transition.
