Experimental Study on the Connection Performance of RC Frame with Steel Braced Frame Installation
In order to increase the in-plane strength and stiffness, and ductility of reinforced concrete frame,a new hybrid connection of installing steel brace frames within existing reinforced concrete frames is pro-posed.Three reinforced concrete frames with one floor and one span are modified, and the frame shear fail-ure behavior, overall bending failure, and shear slip failure behavior of the specimens are designed. The modified frame is tested under both horizontal cyclic load and vertical constant load simultaneously. The re-sults show that the proposed hybrid connection structure can effectively transfer the shear forces between the steel brace frames and reinforced concrete frames, and improve the shear strength of boundary rein-forced concrete columns through sandwich steel plates and high-strength bolts. In addition,a calculation method for estimating the direct shear bearing capacity of mixed connection methods is also proposed.
