Research on Refractive Index Sensing Range of Tilted Fiber Bragg Grating Combined with SPR Effect
Tilted fiber Bragg grating(TFBG)combined with surface plasmon resonance(SPR)effect can achieve high-precision sensing of external refractive index. This combination can not only enhance the sensitivity of sensing but can also broaden the sensing range.Currently, research on TFBG-SPR sensors focuses on specific applications for the detection of biomaterials, gases, chemical components, and more. The sensing range of the TFBG-SPR sensor is related to the tilt angle of the grating.Different tilt angles can change the distribution of optical waveguide modes within the grating, thereby affect-ing the excitation conditions of the SPR effect and its response range to changes in external refractive index. The relation-ship between the TFBG tilt angle and the sensing range in practical applications is not yet clear.Inthis paper,we provide a method of analyzing the sensing range of TFBG-SPR with different tilt angles by combing relative theory and tilt angle simulation.Refractive index sensing experimentby a TFBG-SPR sensor with 5° tilt angle is carried out and verified our method. The work of this paper has important reference significance for the design of TFBG-SPR sensors.
