Interactive Effects of Light Intensity and Nitrogen on Seed Germination of Rape Seeds
Using rapeseed as the experimental material,a dual factor experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of light,nitro-gen,and their interactions on the germination characteristics of rapeseed seeds using three light levels(L1,L2,and L3 were 100%,45%,and 25%,respectively)and three nitrogen levels(N1,N2,and N3 were 0.4%,0.8%,and 1.6%NH4 NO3,respectively).The results showed that under the same lighting conditions, the germination rate of rapeseed seeds first increased and then decreased with the increase of nitrogen concentration, and the germination rate of seeds treated with 0.8%nitrogen concentration was the highest. The seed germination potential showed a decreasing trend with the increase of nitrogen concentration.Under the same light intensity treatment, the seed germination potential of the 1.6%nitrogen concentration treatment was significantly lower than the other two treatment groups(P<0.05).Under L1 and L2 lighting conditions, the germination index showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing with the in-crease of nitrogen concentration, while under L3 lighting conditions, the germination index showed a downward trend with the increase of nitrogen concentration;under the same lighting conditions, the germination index of seeds with a concentration of 1.6%nitrogen was the lowest, significantly lower than other treatment groups(P<0.05).Under L1 illumination, the vitality index of seeds gradually decreased with the increase of nitrogen concentration, with the 1.6%nitrogen concentration treatment group being the lowest and significantly lower than the other two treatment groups(P<0.05).Under L2 and L3 light treatments, the seed vitality index showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing. The seed vitality index was the lowest in the 1.6%nitrogen concentration treatment group, which was significantly lower than the other two treatment groups(P<0.05);the group treated with 0.8%nitrogen concentration had the highest concentration, but there was no significant difference with the group treated with 0.4%nitrogen concentration(P>0.05).This indicates that appropriate shading is beneficial for the germination of rapeseed seeds.High concentration of nitrogen levels can reduce the germination potential, germination index, and vitality index of rapeseed seeds, thereby affecting their germination. The interaction between light intensity and ni-trogen concentration significantly affects the vitality index of rapeseed seeds.
