A New Perspective on the Establishment Time of Changchun Prefecture in the Liao Dynasty
Changchun Prefecture has attracted academic attention because of its important status in the middle and late Liao Dynasty, but the establishment time and location of the prefecture are still controversial. The location of the Yazi River in Chun Na Bo should be in Huanghua Shaopo, namely today's Wujianfang Reservoir in Baicheng;Changchun Prefecture is located in its southwest, namely today's Sijiazi Ancient Town in Taonan County, with three sites nearby which meet the conditions of"Changchun Palace"in Chun Na Bo.The establishment of Changchun Prefecture is of great significance to the governance of the northeast frontier in the middle and late Liao Dy-nasty.From the period of Tonghe to Kaitai,Shengzong moved east to Chun Na Bo,and visited Jurchen and Goryeo. The northeast region urgently needed a powerful and functional prefecture, and Changchun Prefecture and Huanglongfu city cluster were built in response to the need.
