Analysis of the Current Situation and Countermeasures Against Illegal Sand Mining in the Yangtze River Basin
The Yangtze River,often referred to as the "Mother River" of the Chinese nation,has riverbed sand that forms an integral part of its ecosystem.In the Yangtze River Basin,illegal sand mining poses significant threats to ecological security,flood control,and navigational safety.In recent years,local governments along the Yangtze and the Yangtze River Shipping Public Security Bureau have in-tensified the efforts to combat illegal sand mining.However,driven by the high profits,many offenders continue their activities by upgra-ding tools and refining techniques.This paper examines the issues surrounding the enforcement of anti-sand mining measures through the collection,organization,and analysis of illegal sand mining cases in the Yangtze River Basin over the past decade.Problems are ana-lyzed and proposals are provided such as improving legislation,standardizing enforcement,and enhancing public awareness to address il-legal sand mining more effectively.
