Analysis on the Problem of Broken Wires in the Manipulating Cable of the Helicopter Tail Propeller
A certain helicopter was found to have a batch of wire breakage in the manipulating cable of the tail propeller in the pro-cess of use,which seriously affected flight safety.Based on the technical standards and working mechanism of the steel cable,by ana-lyzing the timing and quantity of the broken wires collected,and conducting the technical inspection of the broken wires,it was deter-mined that the uneven stress caused by inadequate cleaning and lubrication,Assembly adjustments not in accordance with standards,and wear intensified caused by stress concentration,which resulted in fatigued broken wires.Fatigue cracks originated at the mi-crowear area on the surface of steel wire,and some steel wires were fractured because of overload.Through cause analysis,practical and effective daily maintenance measures were formulated to reduce abnormal loss of cables,extend their service life,and thus avoid the occurrence of tail propeller manipulating failure caused by wire breakage of steel cables.
