An Analysis of Eight Banners Garrison in Mulan Paddock in Qing Dynasty and Exchanges and Integration among Ethnic Groups
Mulan Paddock is an important place for military training and placating the ethnic minorities in Qing dynasty.In the beginning of the Mulan Paddock's setting up,Zasak Mongolia troop managed the place.In the forty-five years of Kangxi's reign(1706),the Qing government ordered the garrison officers and soldiers of the Eight banners to guard the paddock.During the Qianlong and Jiaqing period,the Qing government implemented a strict patorl guard policy and formed a system based on officers and soldiers stationed under the Eight Banners,and local prefectures and counties cooperated with Zasak Mongolia to watch the paddock.After the Daoguang's reign,the Qing government rarely inspected the north,which led to the decline of the hunting in the Mulan Paddock.Meanwhile,the livelihood of the Rehe garrison officers and soldiers of the Eight Banners became more serious.In this way,the Qing government carried out the policy of the land rent,which led to the decline of function of garrison officers and soldiers in Mulan Paddock.However,the Mulan Paddock became the important place where various ethnic groups had engaged in exchanges and integration.
