The Circulation of Di Xue's Different Versions and the Value of Yongrong's Manuscript in Qing Dynasty
Di Xue is a reference book for emperors to study written by Fan Zuyu in the Northern Song dynasty. The Jiading edition of the book in Song Dynasty was compiled into the Tianlu Linlang Book Collection.Emperor Qianlong wrote an inscription and a poem for the book, and ordered each of his six princes to copy the book. The National Museum of China contains a manuscript by Yongrong, the sixth son of Emperor Qianlong, who was the head of the editorial board of the Siku Quanshu, and this hand-copied book was once stored in Chengde Mountain Resort. It can be inferred that the manuscript by Yongrong should be copied from a Song Dynasty edition, which was compiled into the Tianlu Linlang Book Collection and destroyed in the fire. So,this manuscript could be close to the lost Song Dynasty's edition.Because the editions of Song,Yuan and Ming Dynasties'editions of Di Xue have been lost, and there is only one edition called Xingyuan in Qing dynasty,so this manuscript by Yongrong has the important value for the emendation.
