Surface Micro-Defect Detection of Magnesium Alloy Die-Casting Based on Vortex Sensor
Targeting at the problem that the micro-morphology of the surface of magnesium alloy castings changes little, and the visual characteristics of defects such as sand holes and burrs are not obvious, which leads to high difficulty of manual detection,a method based on vortex sensor for the detection of micro-defects on the surface of magnesium alloy die castings is proposed. The change of mag-nesium metal energy intensity caused by long-term wear and external force are taken as the reference for the next step of detection, the vortex sensing technology is used to set the coil magnetic field with alternating current around the measured casting, the vortex sensing density is adjusted according to the metal parameters of the casting surface, the magnetic field force in the opposite direction of the coil magnetic field on the casting surface is identified, and the accurate detection is then completed. The results show that the maximum magnesium metal energy intensity of sand hole casting defects is 363 MJ and 360 MJ,and the maximum magnesium metal energy inten-sity of burr casting defects is 270 MJ and 300 MJ under different lifting distance of the proposed method. It is verified that the proposed method can accurately detect the surface cracks and dents of magnesium alloy die castings.
