Traffic Volume Detection Based on Two Magnetic Sensors along Lane Markings
Intelligent upgrade of transportation facilities is an important direction to realize Intelligent Transportation System(ITS).A new device called Smart Road Stud(SRS)is introduced, which is equipped with a magnetic sensor and has the functions of traffic detection and lane markings enhancement. In order to meet the traffic detection requirements of magnetic sensors installed on lane markings,a vehicle signal extraction method based on adaptive variance and magnetic field intensity is proposed. The adaptive variance can adaptively sense the background and signal segment in the data series. At the background segment, the index is stable between 0 and 2,unaffected by the detection sites and devices. In view of the complex detection scenarios, such as two-vehicle parallel, long vehicle, etc.,the vehicle signal law is analyzed, and the method of identifying single-vehicle signal,two-vehicle signal, and long vehicle signal based on single SRS is pro-posed.In order to further improve the accuracy,a correction method of double SRSs based on edge server is proposed. The results show that the error of traffic volume of the lane detected by a single SRS is 4.8%,while that of double SRSs is 0.7%.
