Study on attenuation characteristics of ultrasonic wave in polymer solution
Changes of ultrasonic attenuation coefficient in five kinds of polymer solutions, anionic and cationic polyacrylamide(APAM and CPAM),sodium polyacrylate(PAAS),sodium carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC)and sodium alginate (SA ),with different concentration and structure are studied. It is found that the viscosity of polymer solution is not perfectly in positive correlation with acoustic attenuation, and the acoustic attenuation is also related to micelles in polymer solution:the viscosity of CPAM solution only increased by 0.83 mPa·s,and the micelles in CPAM solution increased the acoustic attenuation coefficient by 124.48%.Furthermore,the polymer solution is added to different concentrations of NaCl solution to change the morphology of micelles, and the results show that acoustic attenuation can be affected only when the micelles reach a certain size.
