An improved method of ground seed points selection for DEM construction based on airborne LiDAR data
A method of ground seed points selection based on new grid traversal rules is proposed in this paper to solve such problems as not helpful for ground point extraction and high-quality DEM construction occurred by airborne LiDAR data from traditional methods, like low density of ground seed points obtained, and lack of topographic information in the blank area between the seed points.Compared with traditional method in which the starting grid moves 1 regular grid width each time in the X and Y directions, the method proposed in this paper moves 1/2 regular grid width each time,so the number of ground seed points obtained are about 200%higher than those by traditional method. It can be used to add topographic information in the blank area between the seed points, and improve the accuracy of subsequent point cloud data processing and the reliability of related products.
