Study on seismic behavior of round steel tubes filled with polypropylene fibre reinforced rubber concrete column
In this study, the seismic performance of round steel tubes filled with polypropylene fibre reinforced rubber concrete was investigated.Ten steel tubes filled with concrete were designed and manufactured for low cyclic-loading tests. The impact of different rubber powder contents, slenderness ratios, axial compression ratios, and steel contents on the damage of the specimens was discussed. The test results show that the failure of round steel tubes filled with polypropylene fibre reinforced rubber concrete is similar to that of ordinary concrete filled steel tube column, which forms buckling at the root of the column and then is cracked. The incorporation of rubber powder will reduce the bearing capacity of the specimen, but improve the energy dissipation capacity and ductility of the specimen.Excessive axial compression ratio will make the round steel tubes filled with polypropylene fibre reinforced rubber concrete column fail in advance, and the slenderness ratio has a great influence on the hysteretic process of the specimen.
