Influence of Wind and Solar Access to Hydroelectric Power Stations on Hydropower Output
The Jinsha River Basin is rich in water energy, wind energy and solar energy resources.Due to the influence of weather and wind speed, the output of wind power generation is intermittent and unstable.Grid connection of wind power requires an inverter to convert it from direct current to alternating current.Under high-frequency operation, the inverter is prone to generate high harmonics which pollute the grid.In this paper,we suggest to use wind energy from the Jinsha River Basin to improve pumped storage facilities at hydropower stations. The aim is to build a hydro-wind-scenery complementary system to increase both the output and annual electricity production of the hydroelectric power plant.
