Discussion on Health Evaluation of Plateau Rivers Based on Comprehensive Index Method
The impact of climate change and human activities on the health of plateau rivers are increasingly significant. In line with the actual conditions in southeast Tibet,we utilized comprehensive index method to establish a health evaluation index system consisting seven indicators of four aspects including water quantity, water quality, biota and morphological structure for plateau rivers. We employed the analytic hierarchy process(AHP)to calculate index weights, and assessed the health conditions of eight plateau rivers in southeast Tibet:the Jinsha River(Tibet section),the Lancang River, the Nujiang River(Naqu section),the Parlung Tsangpo River, the Nyang River, the Chayu River, the Yarlung Zangbo River, and the Xibaxia River. Results revealed unsatisfactory indicators as follows:the total phosphorus index and fish retention index of the Lancang River, the average monthly flow deviation index and longitudinal connectivity index of the Nujiang River(Naqu section),the water quantity index of the Xibaxia River, the total nitrogen index of the Jinsha River(Tibet section),and the discharge outlet density index of the Parlung Tsangpo River.Six rivers including the Nyang River, the Parlung Tsangpo River, the Nujiang River(Naqu section),the Yarlung Zangbo River, the Jinsha River(Tibet section),and the Chayu River were in healthy state, while the Xibaxia River and the Lancang River were in a sub-healthy state.Rivers in southeast Tibet were generally in a healthy condition.
