Investigation of the Urban Language Landscape in Xinjiang from the Perspective of Fostering the Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation——Takeing City L as a Case Study
Language landscape is an integral part of urban landscape,and various codes provide important in-formation and services for urban operation. The language landscape of L city presents the characteristics of the coex-istence of multiple languages with the standard national spoken and written language as the main body. These lan-guage landscapes play an important role in providing public services,publicizing national policies,and shaping the cultural image of the city. The results of the survey showed that the local people had a good reading ability of the standard national spoken and written language,held a positive attitude towards the language,actively used the stan-dard national spoken and written language in daily life,and objectively evaluated the publicity effect of the language landscape. Strengthening the governance of the spoken and written language can give full play to the basic role of the standard national spoken and written language in fostering the sense of community for the Chinese nation.
